Background
During my Creativity & Concept Development work study, I focused on the importance of user-centered design. When narrowing down my project, I reflected on how my siblings and I would improvise when toy furniture broke or went missing, crafting replacements to keep our dolls’ storylines going. This resourcefulness inspired my project: creating imaginative, DIY play solutions that are accessible and designed with creativity in mind.

Research
I explored Calico Critters' branding, focusing on its nostalgic charm and storytelling elements. To refine the aesthetic for the target audience, I also researched trends in children's interior design and color preferences. This research was compiled into mood boards to guide the project’s tone, style, and direction. Merging the classic charm of Calico Critters with the clean, modern aesthetic of today’s kids’ spaces was a unique and rewarding design challenge.
