Zoots

Summer 2025 | Branding | Graphic Design | Motion | Typography |

Overview

Zoots is a hypothetical jazz club based in Brooklyn, New York. From the moment you step through the entrance, you're surrounded by a warm and inviting atmosphere that pays loving homage to music, theater, and its inspiration, “The Muppets“.

Wordmark

The name “Zoots” itself is not only a nod to the Muppet of the same name, but to jazz with the musician Zoot sims who the muppet was inspired by.

Tying into each of the core values of Zoots; Joy, Nostalgia, and Creativity, I wanted the logo to feel handcrafted, while still having a timeless and expressive appearence. Opting to use a brush marker, I chose to freehand my logo, drawing inspiration to their logo, handwritting, and felt.

Final Wordmark

While not intentional at first, my final design was chosen having an expression of its own.

Menu Touchpoint

Tapping into the musical aspect of The Muppets,  the menu is designed as if you’re opening a  music book. With the twist of the menu opening wide instead of long.

Typography:
Display: Handwritten
Sub header: Neue Haas Unica W1G 12pt bold
Bodycopy: Neue Haas Unica W1G 10pt regular

Digital Touchpoint

As a tribute to the art of puppetry. Instead of remaining a static mark, the logo becomes a puppet itself. This projected installation invites users to walk up, play music, and instantly become the puppeteer. As the music starts, the Zoots logo reacts in real time.

 Touchpoint

By transforming the brand mark into a character, the experience turns a simple projection into a live performance. It creates an interactive moment where users don’t just see the brand, they are a part of it.
